What is an eyebrow transplant?

An eyebrow transplant uses individual hair follicles harvested from a donor area — typically from fine hairs at the nape of the neck or scalp — and implants them into the eyebrow area to restore density, shape or coverage that has been lost.

The procedure is one of the most technically demanding in hair restoration. Eyebrow hairs grow at a very shallow angle and in a precise directional pattern — correct placement requires meticulous attention to angle, depth and direction at every single graft site. Done well, the result is completely natural. Done poorly, it looks immediately obvious.

DrQ personally designs the eyebrow shape for your face and plans every graft position. The procedure is performed by our specialist surgical team to his exact specification — no templates, no compromise on precision.

Who is a candidate?
✓
Over-plucked or thinned brows

Years of plucking can permanently damage follicles, leaving sparse or patchy regrowth.

✓
Alopecia or medical hair loss

Eyebrow loss caused by alopecia areata, thyroid conditions, or other medical causes.

✓
Scarring from injury or surgery

Trauma or previous surgical scars that have prevented eyebrow regrowth.

✓
Naturally sparse brows

Genetically thin eyebrows that have never been full, regardless of plucking history.

What to expect

An eyebrow transplant at Harley Street Hairline typically takes 2–4 hours. A smaller procedure than scalp FUE but requiring the highest level of precision.

Eyebrow design

DrQ draws the eyebrow shape precisely for your facial proportions — considering symmetry, natural arch position and the look you are aiming for. No templates.

3
✂

Graft extraction

Fine, single-hair follicles are harvested individually from the donor area under local anaesthetic. Donor selection is critical — finer hairs produce the most natural eyebrow appearance.

4
💉

Precision implantation

Every graft is placed individually at the correct shallow angle — typically 10–15 degrees — following the natural directional flow of eyebrow hair. This step determines the entire result.

Post-procedure care

Full written aftercare instructions provided. Mild redness and small scabs in the eyebrow area resolve within 5–7 days. Avoid touching or applying makeup to the area initially.

What happens after the procedure

Days 1–7

Healing phase

Small scabs form around each graft in the eyebrow area and shed naturally. Avoid makeup, rubbing or wetting the area directly. Mild redness is normal.

Weeks 2–8

Shedding phase

The transplanted eyebrow hairs shed — this is normal and expected. The follicles remain in place. You may wish to use makeup or pencil to fill in during this period.

Months 3–6

Growth begins

New eyebrow hairs emerge from the transplanted follicles. Growth is gradual. Eyebrow transplant hair initially grows quickly and may need trimming more often than natural brow hair.

Month 12

Full result

Full density and shape visible at 12 months. The transplanted hairs settle into a more natural growth rhythm over time. The result is permanent.

Important: eyebrow hair growth rate

Because the transplanted hairs come from the scalp, they initially grow at a scalp rate — faster than natural eyebrow hair. Most patients need to trim their transplanted brows more frequently during the first year. Over time (typically 12–18 months), the growth rate adapts to the new location.

Eyebrow transplant FAQ

Will the result look natural?

+

In the hands of a skilled surgeon, yes — completely. The key is precise angle and direction of each graft. Eyebrow hairs grow at a very shallow angle and in a specific direction; replicating this exactly is what separates a natural result from an obvious one. The surgical team places every graft to DrQ’s precise specification.

Can I still use eyebrow makeup after?

+

Yes — once fully healed (typically 2 weeks post-procedure), you can use makeup as normal. Many patients continue to fill in during the shedding and early growth phase. Once the full result is established, most patients find they no longer need to.

Will I need to trim the transplanted brows?

+

Initially yes — scalp-origin hairs grow faster than eyebrow hairs. Most patients need to trim their brows more frequently for the first 12–18 months. The growth rate typically adapts over time.

Is the procedure suitable for alopecia patients?

+

It depends on the type and stability of the alopecia. Patients with stable, localised alopecia areata may be suitable candidates. Those with active or widespread alopecia require careful assessment before any procedure is considered. DrQ will assess this honestly at the photo review stage.

How long does the procedure take?

+

An eyebrow transplant typically takes 2–4 hours depending on the number of grafts and whether one or both eyebrows are being treated. It is a shorter procedure than a scalp transplant, but requires the same — or greater — level of precision.
