Patients who use medical therapy consistently after their transplant maintain a more complete and natural-looking result than those who do not, as the transplanted area remains surrounded by protected native hair rather than progressively thinning native hair.
The practical answer: the grafts last a lifetime. The surrounding hair needs managing. A well-maintained transplant result at twenty years post-procedure looks as good as at five years; an unmaintained one may look increasingly isolated as surrounding native hair thins.
